Bookmark Reading Charity

You can change a child’s story by becoming a reading volunteer with Bookmark Reading Charity. Many of Bookmark’s volunteers are retired or semi-retired, and they have wonderful testimonials as they continue supporting children with their literacy. Please take a look at this video featuring Bookmark’s oldest volunteer, Diana.

Volunteers read stories and play games with a child aged between 5 and 11 years
old, on their secure online platform or at a local school. The programme involves two 30-minute reading sessions a week with the same child, for 6 weeks.

Please visit https://www.bookmarkreading.org/volunteer for more details and to sign up. Please state in your application that you found this opportunity through Derby u3a.

Please contact info@bookmarkreading.org if you have any questions about volunteering with Bookmark.

If you would like to submit your applications as a group with Derby u3a then please contact Jemma Mo at jemma.mo@bookmarkreading.org

Bookmark pays for volunteers’ DBS checks, delivers training and offers volunteers ongoing support so that they can deliver fantastic and fun reading sessions, enabling all children to discover the joy of reading.
