In Case of Emergency (ICE)

To walk with us it is now a requirement to carry an ICE note and/or card.

If anyone ever has a sudden medical issue or accident while out on a walk, having immediate access to your name, next-of-kin contact, and key medical info means the emergency services can act without delay.

Please write/print the following on a slip of paper, pop it inside a small plastic bag to keep it waterproof, and tuck it in the top pocket of your rucksack:

  • Your full name
  • Emergency contact name(s) & phone number(s)
  • Any key medical conditions, severe allergies, or regular medications

You can buy proper waterproof ICE cards online (for less than £10) if you’d like something more professional looking that can kept in your wallet. But, a piece of paper in a plastic bag does the job perfectly well. It may be your only option for your first walk.

It might be a pain and you may be busy but please do it even if you normally walk as one of a couple.

In any serious incident, we will leave it to the emergency services to find the ICE note/card and call your emergency contact(s).

Thank you.
